I am a matured woman and I'm lucky to look young and feel like it as well. It therefore comes as no surprise when I pay special attention in looking this way. It isn't exactly vanity but more of self-preservation. If you are able to maintain your looks, you'll feel good about yourself and when you feel good about yourself, you have a very positive, colorful outlook on life.
But, no matter how hard you try, there'll be some problems coming up , not by choice but by chance. And one of the most dreaded condition that we women make a big fuss out of, is cellulite. It is said that cellulite is faced by a great majority (almost more than 90%) of women of any race, creed, stature and age. Cellulite can be blamed on a number of things, mostly due to smoking, stress, sedentary lifestyle and very poor eating habits. But what is it and what causes this unwelcome condition?
Referring to Wikipedia, cellulite happens to women (What, no men?)and you notice skin in the abdomen, limbs and pelvic areas become “dimpled” after reaching puberty (that soon!). Other descriptions used in describing it are mattress spectacle, orange peel sensation and cottage cheese skin. Nasty, ugly definitions, right? Causes are also poorly understood and points to shifting metabolism and physiology as cellulite causes or factors.
Hormonal factors
Hormones in the body play a key role in cellulite formation. Estrogen, the body's most important hormones appears to jumpstart and worsen cellulite. Other hormones like thyroid hormones, insulin, prolactin, adrenaline and non-adrenaline have been proven to take part in cellulite formation.
Predisposing factors
Even genetic factors have been pointed to as cellulite culprit. Race, sex or gender, distribution of subcutaneous fat, hormone receptor allele that dictates the receptor number and sensitiveness, and the
susceptibility to circulatory weakness have all been implied to as cellulite contributor.
Diet
Diet is also blamed as having to do with the start and extent of the condition. Unreasonable high amounts of carbohydrates, salt, too little fiber, alcohol and fats can likewise lend a hand in the
heightened amount of cellulite.
Lifestyle
Wearing of tight clothes and jeans, use of unusually high heeled shoes, sitting and standing in one position for long periods of time, smoking and lack or no exercise regimen to speak of, have all
been related as having to contribute to cellulite. A stressful lifestyle not just leads to cellulite formation but to other unwanted conditions as well.
So what do you do when you see signs of cellulite on your body? There isnt a definite or magical cure for the moment, but there are ways with which to minimize cellulite. You may opt to undergo treatment procedures such as mesotherapy, liposuction, massage, or exercise . Or, use treatment products like anti cellulite creams, lotions and potions!
Just remember – the world won't end when you have cellulite. You'll just have to consider doing some lifestyle changes to help you get started in your battle against it. Once you do it, half the battle is won.The important thing is not to give up and have the resolve to do something about it. Cellulite can be beat.
